बहुत समय पहले आर्यगढ़ नाम का एक सुंदर राज्य हुआ करता था। उस राज्य के राजा वीरेंद्र सिंह अपनी बहादुरी, न्यायप्रियता और दयालु स्वभाव के लिए दूर-दूर तक प्रसिद्ध थे। उनकी रानी, माधवी, बेहद बुद्धिमान और सरल हृदय की महिला थीं। प्रजा उन्हें माता समान सम्मान देती थी।

Once upon a time, in a beautiful lake, lived a tortoise and two geese. They were the best of friends.
One year, there was a terrible summer, and the lake began to dry up. The geese worried that they would soon have to find another home, but they didn’t want to leave their dear friend behind.

The geese thought of an idea. They said, “We will bring a strong wooden stick. You bite it in the middle with your mouth, and we will carry you safely to another lake.”

But soon, greed crept in.
The queen said, “If it lays one golden egg daily, there must be dozens of eggs inside it. Why wait? Let’s take them all at once!”
The king, influenced by the thought of instant riches, agreed.
The next day, the golden hen was killed.
The Loss Caused by Greed
To their horror, there were no golden eggs inside.
Their precious magical hen was gone forever.
No more golden eggs. No more growing wealth. Soon, the treasury emptied. People mocked their foolishness, and ministers began losing trust in their decisions.
Realization and Regret
The king and queen were filled with deep regret. They addressed the kingdom and admitted their mistake, saying:
“Greed leads only to destruction. Had we been patient and grateful, we would have had lifelong wealth.”
They established schools to teach children this lesson:
“Be grateful for what you have. Greed can cost you everything you love.”

राजा की राजधानी से कुछ दूरी पर एक गरीब रंक, जिसका नाम धरमू था, एक झोपड़ी में रहता था। उसके पास पहनने के लिए ठीक कपड़े नहीं थे, खाने को दो वक़्त की रोटी मुश्किल से मिलती थी, लेकिन उसका मन बड़ा शांत था। वह रोज़ जरूरतमंदों को जो थोड़ी बहुत मदद कर सकता, करता था।
राजा की योजना: विनम्रता की परीक्षा
एक दिन राजा ने सोचा कि वह धरमू से मिलने जाएगा और जानने की कोशिश करेगा कि एक गरीब आदमी खुश कैसे रह सकता है। राजा साधु का वेश धारण कर उसकी झोपड़ी पहुंचा।
धरमू ने राजा को पहचान नहीं पाया, लेकिन उसने राजा को पानी पिलाया, अपने हिस्से की रोटी दी और मुस्कराते हुए बोला, “राजा तो वही है जो दूसरों की भूख बुझाए, न कि सिर्फ राजमहल में सोए।”
नैतिक मूल्य: कौन है असली राजा?
राजा ने अपने वेश में ही धरमू से कई सवाल किए—धन, दुःख, ईश्वर, प्रेम और संतोष के बारे में। धरमू के जवाब गहरे थे। उसने कहा, “धन एक छलावा है, असली संतोष सेवा में है।”
राजा चकित रह गया। वापस महल लौटकर उसने धरमू को सम्मानित करने का निश्चय किया।
रंक बना राज्यगुरु
अगले दिन राजा ने सभा बुलाकर सभी के सामने धरमू को राज्यगुरु नियुक्त किया। सभी ने पूछा क्यों? राजा ने उत्तर दिया, “जिसके विचार राजा जैसे हों, वही सच्चा राजा है!”

Far from the palace, a poor beggar named Dharamu lived in a small hut. He had barely enough to eat and wear, yet his heart overflowed with kindness. He would share food, smile at strangers, and never complain.
The King’s Test: A Disguise of Humility
One day, the king decided to meet Dharamu disguised as a monk. When he arrived at the hut, Dharamu offered his last roti and water with warmth.
He said, “A true king feeds others’ hunger, not just enjoys luxuries.”

The disguised king asked Dharamu about life, sorrow, and wealth. Dharamu replied, “Wealth is an illusion. Real happiness lies in service.”

Next day, the king declared in the royal court that Dharamu would be the new Rajguru – the spiritual advisor to the king. He said, “A man with thoughts like a king is the true ruler of hearts.”
